Delray Beach Vacation

Delray Beach Vacation

Last week my husband and I spent a few beautiful days in Delray Beach, Florida. My aunt and cousin live there and the highlight of the trip was definitely the quality family time with them.

However, if you’re ever interested in a vacation to the Delray Beach and West Palm Beach area, I wanted to share you some travel highlights.

Delray Beach Weather

First off, I can’t recommend enough to go in February! Yes, it is a more expensive time to for flights and hotels, but it is definitely worth it.

The weather was perfection. It was much like the Caribbean in the winter. Most days topped out in the low-80s and just the right amount of humidity. For contrast, we were sitting pool side in Florida while it was hailing and in the 30s in Sacramento. So, I was a happy girl!

Run Delray Beach

For those joggers out there, Delray has some beautiful paths that follow the coastline.

Every morning I’d drive down to the corner of South Federal Highway and Linton Blvd and park in the Trader Joe’s parking lot. From there, I’d jog east on Linton Blvd, over the bridge that crosses the Intracoastal Waterway, and down to South Ocean Blvd. At South Ocean Blvd, also call A1A, simply make a left and jog about another half-mile to the Atlantic Dunes Park.

There is a pathway that hugs the coastline and a nice mix of joggers and walkers. From where I parked my car, down to end of the path and back was approximately 6-miles.

Downtown Delray Beach

While we ate at in for most meals because we were with family, we did venture out one day to downtown Delray Beach. It’s a really cute downtown beach area with a great mix of restaurants and shops.

My husband and I enjoyed an amazing lunch at the Farmhouse Kitchen. The restaurant specializes is fresh, organic, and super delicious meals. We split the quinoa chop chop salad, the crushed avocado toast, and the smoked salmon with toast.

The food was amazing and the farm-to-table decor and open layout of the restaurant made it the perfect place for a relaxing meal.

Yoga

As I’ve mentioned before, for about the past year now I’ve been practicing yoga almost everyday. Many times it’s at home via MyYogaWorks, but I try to practice at a studio 3-4 times a week.

I love checking out new studios when I travel, and when I went to Delray, there was only one place I wanted to checkout- FYZZ Yoga. My cousin just happens to be the owner of this beautiful studio, just minutes from downtown Delray Beach. But that isn’t the only reason I loved it.

I also loved it because it is beautiful and the vibe is so on point.

I took two classes while I was visiting. It worked out perfectly because I happened to be in town when they were offering a Yoga for Recovery class. The session, also know as Y12SR, or The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery, was absolutely perfect. We started with a 12-step meeting (all A’s welcomed) and then did a 45-minute gentle yoga class. It really was magical.

The second class I went to was a wonderfully relaxing Vinyasa flow. It felt like getting a massage. The classes I take tend to be in a hot room and pretty intense. This was such a different experience and reminded me how much I love the peaceful benefits that come from a more relaxed practice.

For those visiting who have kids, or just a Delray local with a kid or two, definitely check out FYZZ. They are one of the few yoga studios that offers childcare. They even offer kid’s yoga. It really is an amazing and special place.

So those are my Delray Beach highlights. For those who have visited before and have other suggestions, please drop your thoughts in the comments below. Also, if you have any question, please ask away.

I have to say, as I got ready for work today and pulled on my wool sweater, I craved those sunny, poolside moments quite a bit!!
