Mother’s Day

Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother’s Day. The one day of the year we officially section off specifically to celebrate our moms.

I know it’s been said a million times, but really one day isn’t enough. Because if you have an amazing mom like I do, you really should stop to tell her how much she means to you every day of the year.

Do I? Sadly I don’t. But should I? Absolutely.

I am one of those lucky people that has a mom who doesn’t just say she will love you no matter what, she really does.

I remember being younger and she would often remind my sister and me that we could tell her anything. She wanted the truth so she could be in our corner and help us through any struggle.

I didn’t always believe her, and I was sure that there was something that would push her beyond the point of unconditional love, but so far I haven’t found it.

And I kind of doubt I ever will.

That kind of love is really special because it isn’t just lip service- I really know I can talk to my mom about anything.

And that is my absolute favorite thing to do with my mom. Just talk. I love our talks. We can easily stay up far too late talking about everything.

From mindless pop culture, to really serious emotional stuff, we cover it all.

And every time we have a talk I come away understanding myself better.

That is the thing about an amazing mom. She knows you like no one else. She can ask those questions you didn’t even know you needed to explore.

There is nothing like sorting through life’s challenges with someone who has known you since before you were born.

So for all us who have amazing moms, let’s make a pack to remind them how much they mean to us more than just every now a then.

Having a great mom is like winning the lottery.

If you struck it big like I did, make an effort to tell them out the blue how much you care. Though they’ll never demand it, they most certainly deserve it!
