March Goals

March Goals

March 1st is here and that means it’s time to set monthly goals!

As I’ve mentioned before, I love doing this. I think it’s a great way to challenge yourself and make small changes that help you achieve long-term goals.

Every month, I try to focus on a few small steps to make life a little better. At the start of last month, I came up with three focus areas for February.

Quick Recap. My February Goals Were:

  1. Stretch more

  2. Drink more water

  3. Get more sleep

The first one was no problem. Thanks to my stress fracture, I’ve started physical therapy and a big part of that is stretching, especially my hips. Box checked!

The second goal was also pretty easy. I’ve definitely upped my water game and I feel the difference.

My body loves to retain salt like it’s a prized possession. Drinking more water has really helped to reduce that puffy and swollen feeling I can’t stand.

But with the last goal- I really missed the boat altogether.

Getting more sleep seemed to be my Achilles heel. Sadly, I bet I got less sleep in February than I did in January. So I’m definitely adding that one back on the list for March.

For the month of March, here are the things I plan to make a high priority!

Strength Training

With my stress fracture, running is off the table until mid-March at the earliest. But strength training has gotten the green light from my doctor.

In addition to my weekly kettle bell class, I’m going to check out more strength training classes on ClassPass and add 30 minutes of weights three days a week at home.

I also have an awesome Pilates springboard that my husband made for me a while back. That will definitely get more use this month!

Focus on Photography

Over the past month I’ve really started to play more with photography.

I enjoy trying to figure out what goes into a beautiful photograph. This month I want to dedicate more time to taking pictures and learning what works and what doesn’t.

Of course this also means more research- so I might be spending even more time looking at all the beautiful pictures on Instagram!!

And finally- Get More Sleep

As I mentioned, this one was hard for me last month. No good reason, just lack of planning on my part.

I can’t work a full day, take a spin class after work, make dinner, post my blog, meal prep for the next day, and be in bed before 10.

Logistically it’s not possible.

But I do believe with a little more planning this doesn’t have to be the case. Especially in the dinner department!

I’m excited to find simple dinner recipes that don’t take as long to make- and you know I’ll be sharing the good ones here!

So those are my goals for March. Lots of good things to go with a beautiful month of sunshine and the start of spring.

If you are setting monthly goals, or maybe giving something up for Lent, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.

Cheers to a wonderful March!
